The coronavirus also tripped the LocarnoFolk Events 2020. Because of the epidemic, we are unfortunately forced to postpone the opening concert of the concert series, which should have taken place on March 26 at the Teatro del Gatto in Ascona.

You will have the chance to discover in autumn (date still to be determined), always at the Teatro del Gatto, the intriguing project "LinguaMadre: Il Canzoniere di Pasolini", proposed by four young musicians among the most interesting and creative talents of the new Italian folk.

The spring season of the LocarnoFolk Events 2020 will consequently open on April 4 at the Sala Congressi in Muralto with the Barba Loutig women's quartet, who will perform Breton polyphonic songs interwoven with popular music from around the world and enhanced by the sound of percussion.

This event is the result of a collaboration with OSA! (Organico Scena Artistica), as well as the second concert scheduled for May 9 at Osteria La Fabbrica in Losone, which will bring another French project to Ticino: Red Sonja, the latest album by Lolomis, a quartet of young musicians fascinated by the repertoires of Eastern Europe, who draw on various influences such as electronics, trance and pop to create a unique, surprising, hypnotic sound.

To conclude the spring concert series on May 16 at the Atelier Teatro dei Fauni in Locarno will be the multi-ethnic group Safar Mazì, who together with the young Italian-Greek writer Emanuele Apostolidis will take us on a journey from Macedonia to Crete with their "song theatre" project entitled "L'ultimo rebetiko".
